The Power of a Smile
How powerful is a smile? Babies smile in the womb before they even learn it from others. Itās innate and part of our being. We hear a lot about the value of a positive attitude and how our energy can impact others.
I watched a segment of a Ted Talk last week which highlighted a retrospective study looking at school photos from several decades ago. The smiles of several individuals were assessed as well as their disposition later in life in regards to happiness and longevity. In summary, there was a strong correlation between the smiles during oneās youth and the outcome of their life several decades later.
There are a lot of tangents one could go from here but I choose to emphasize that not only does oneās smile early in life correlate with their future but also impacts others.
I recently saw the following and thought it was a perfect summary of this idea:
āYour smile is your logo. Your personality is your business card. How you leave others feeling after having an experience with you becomes your trademark.ā
As parents, nothing makes us happier than to see our child smile. It means the world and tells us all is well in that moment. Donāt forget your children are watching you daily and are also eagerly looking for your smiles as it is energizing, affirming, and also tells them all is well in their world in that moment.
Later on your child will reflect on your trademark and how they perceive your persona. How will they describe you? What were the gifts you left them emotionally and how did you make them feel? Hopefully they will reflect with a smile.
At ParentMD we are eager to lead with a smile to serve. Let us know how we can bring a peace of mind to you and those you love as your Virtual Childrenās Health Partner!
