A note from the founder
There are two questions I get all the time about our video courses:
What are they? And why are you producing them?
The story goes back to my days in private practice. Imagine a day packed with 20+ visits ranging from newborn checks and acute sick visits to chronic disease visits and school checkups – just to name a few. On average, visits lasted 10 to 30 minutes and many times would be focused on a new diagnosis with very limited time.
Today’s world allows us to archive and share content via the internet easily and freely. Early on, I wanted ParentMD to be not only a platform to connect parents to quality telehealth partners and one another, but to also find video and audio resources created by pediatric experts. I wanted to offer the space and time for them to speak freely for hours to share everything we thought parents needed and wanted to hear from a pediatrician.
How many times does the pediatrician provide a diagnosis of asthma, ADHD, food allergies, or others, and only have five minutes left in a visit to hit the highlights? As a result, parents are left to go home to the internet, search for more information and answer their remaining questions.
But with our video courses, parents now can learn from experts at their own pace, at a time and in a place that is convenient for them and rewatch as often as they need.
Recently I had the pleasure of sitting all day in the studio with Dr. Steve Johnson to discuss ADHD. What a joy to have the protected time to have the conversation and record all the thoughts and information we felt parents should know about ADHD! There is so much more to be discussed on this topic in future courses, but it provided a lot of great insight and information from a father, former teacher, child psychologist and practicing pediatrician. I know this video course will be a great resource that can be shared with fellow caregivers and rewatched as desired.
I am proud to say that we have produced 17 video courses to date and are looking forward to releasing our 18th this month with Dr. Katy Hopkins! Dr. Hopkins is a child and adolescent psychologist and discussed how parenting changes based on the needs of the child over the course of the first 25 years of life. I can’t wait for you to check it out.
You can view all of our video courses here. If there is a topic that particularly interests you, let me know by replying to this email or filling out this form.
Stay tuned for more in the future!
